I swear that sometimes I do actually play with my kids. I can get all messy and lo-fi fort-making or crafty and Pinteresty with the best of them. (Pinteresty. It’s a word, right?)
And sometimes I don’t. And I let them figure it out and have that whole laid-back hands-off childhood thing that we are all trying to recapture.
And either I feel guilty for not playing with them, or I feel guilty for not forcing encouraging them to be creative on their own.
So, I’ve decided that I’m going to stop feeling guilty and just feel awesome. Because either way–whether I am being hands-off and facilitating creativity or intentional and engaging in meaningful play–either way I am doing it the right way according to someone, right?
Either way, I am totally winning at parenting.
